HOME STUDY OPTION
How it Works

1. ‣You’ll receive a 30-minute orientation to the program via telephone or
   Skype, where we’ll go over the syllabus together, orient you to the
   home-study process, and answer any questions that you may have
   

2. ‣You’ll be given access to the Student Resources page, where you’ll be
   able to download:
   

1. 1.The lecture notes and accompanying PDF slides for each lecture
   

2. 2.Audio recordings of the lectures given in NYC course
   

3. 3.The take-home exams/study guides that accompany each lecture,
   along with their corresponding answer keys
   

4. ‣With this material it is easy to get behind if you are not studying regularly,
   so you should make a firm commitment to the program and carve out
   enough time to study
   

5. ‣To stay on track, each week you’ll need to:
   

1. 1.Complete the assigned reading (approximately one chapter from the
   book)
   

2. 2.Download and listen to the audio file of the lecture
   

3. 3.Study the lecture notes and accompanying PDF slides
   

4. 4.Complete the take-home test
   

5. 5.Use the answer key to see how you did on the take-home test, and
   then spend some more time studying the material that you had
   difficulty with
   

6. ‣For the first two modules, there will be four or five closed-book quizzes
   (approximately two per month):
   

1. 1.these quizzes are 20-25 questions, and are drawn straight from the
   take-home tests
   

2. 2.we’ll arrange a time for you to take these quizzes via e-mail
   

3. 3.these are closed-book quizzes (on the honor system), and you’ll have
   20 minutes to complete them from the time they are emailed to you
   

4. ‣For the first two modules, there will be a final exam at the end of the course:
   

1. 1.the final exam consists of 100 questions, which come directly from the
   take-home tests that you have already completed
   

2. 2.we’ll arrange a time for you to take the final exam via e-mail
   

3. 3.the final exam is a closed-book exam (on the honor system), and you’ll
   have 75 minutes to complete it from the time it is emailed to you
   

4. ‣You will be able to e-mail me or call me with any questions you have about
   the course as we proceed through it
